(Note, however, the initials "A. C." that appear at the bottom of the
miniature. It is not known whether these initials refer to the artist who
painted the scene, or the man depicted in the scene.)

watercolor and macerated hair on ivory;
housed under glass in a gold bracelet clasp that was,
at some point in its past, converted into a pendant
