 Americancirca 1840
 Artist unknown*

*The portrait bears no signature, and there are no identifying notes to its reverse, leaving both the artist and the subject unknown. Aspects of the painting resemble the finer work of both Augustus Fuller and Samuel Howes, but it differs enough from both that an attribution to either is difficult to make.
