2 1/4 x 2 3/4 inches (sight)
watercolor on ivory; housed in a gilt metal pendant frame
A photo of this miniature was included in the recently published book, "The Age of Undress: Art, Fashion and the Classical Ideal in the 1790s" (by Amelia Rauser, published in 2020 by Yale University Press, New Haven, Connecticut).
The subject wears a white muslin dress (very fashionable in the late eighteenth century), tied with a gold-colored sash below her bust line. Her up-swept hair is similarly tied with a piece of gold and blue cloth (what Amelia Rauser believes is likely a madras handkerchief).
